Rhode Island – The Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Block is proposing an ambitious plan that called «Let’s Fix RI» to improve the future of Rhode Island with large tax cuts and government reform. Block at a press conference on Tuesday, said among other things, that if elected he would try reducing taxes on vehicles, as well as commercial and state taxes. He also wants to reduce spending on unemployment benefits and temporary disability and would give the state ethics commission more powers.

Block, a businessman who founded the Moderate Party of Rhode Island, said that the economy is suffering because politicians do not want to take the risk and make decisions. Block faces Cranston Mayor Allan Fung in the Republican primary. The Democratic candidates are Clay Pell, Mayor Angel Taveras of Providence, and General Treasurer Gina Raimondo.
