On January 22, 2016, at approximately 8:30 a.m., members of the Major Crimes Unit arrested John J. Linehan, age 49, of 16 Laurel Hill Drive, Smithfield, Rhode Island, on an Affidavit & Arrest Warrant for Obtaining Money under False Pretenses/ Over $1,500. Mr. Linehan was returned to the Scituate Barracks where he was processed and subsequently transported to Third Division District Court for arraignment. Mr. Linehan appeared before the Honorable Judge Elaine Bucci. No plea was entered, and Mr. Linehan was released on $10,000 personal recognizance.

On January 22, 2016, at 2:15 pm, detectives from the Major Crimes Unit charged inmate Marilyn Ramos, age 25, having a last known address of 36 Bolton Street, Cranston, Rhode Island, with 1) Simple Assault and 2) Disorderly Conduct. Inmate Ramos was arraigned in Sixth Division District Court before the Honorable Magistrate Joseph P. Ippolito Jr., where she entered a plea of Nolo Contendere and received a sentence of 1 year suspended/1 year probation on the simple assault charge and a 6 month suspended/6 month probation sentence on the disorderly charge. This arrest is the result of an investigation by members of the Major Crimes Unit assigned to the Department of Corrections.
