Amica Insurance employees donate more than 1,000 items to Dorcas International Institute of RI

LINCOLN, R.I., Oct. 7, 2016 – Employees at Amica Insurance donated more than 1,000
items to Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island (DIIRI) during a three-month
initiative that ran from June through August.

DIIRI’s mission is to empower individuals and families, especially the underserved,
to become self-sufficient and fully participating members of their diverse
communities. It does this through innovative programs and advocacy that promote
education, training and cultural understanding.

Amica supported that mission by collecting cleaning supplies in June, baby and
children supplies in July and housewares in August. At the end of August, Amica
volunteers used those donations to build welcome packages. Any remaining items were
then donated directly to DIIRI.

“As a 29-year employee of Amica, I’m thrilled that we decided to partner with DIIRI
on this project,” said Mike Gillerlane, senior assistant vice president in Amica’s
claims executive department and a member of DIIRI’s board of directors. “The welcome
packages will go a long way in helping those in need. On behalf of DIIRI, I’d like
to thank all those who donated, as well as those who helped organize this project.”

project for this summer celebration,” said Kathleen Cloutier, executive director of
DIIRI. “These donations are going to help many people start their new lives here in
Rhode Island. Thanks to Amica for giving back – not just in charitable donations,
but also by encouraging their employees to volunteer in the community.”
