IATSE Local 23 Endorses Michael Solomon for Mayor of Providence

PROVIDENCE, RI - Local 23 of the International Alliance of Theatrical
Stage Employees, AFL-CIO announced its endorsement for Michael Solomon for
Mayor of Providence today.

This is the 3rd union endorsement for Solomon including the International
Union of Painters and Allied Trades and the 16-member Rhode Island Building
and Construction Trades Council.

“We believe that Providence is at a crossroads,” said Michael Araujo,
business agent for Local 23.  “Robust and visionary leadership is required
for the challenges our City of Providence is facing.  We believe that
proven leadership and experience are invaluable assets to our diverse
population.  Michael Solomon has that experience and is that leader.”

"Michael cares about the community.  He has been unafraid to act in the
cause of justice regardless of popularity or personal gain,” Araujo
continued.  “He has again and again been the first to speak out, and the
first to seek out advice and guidance from his constituents.  We support
his leadership and will work hard to elect him as our next great Mayor.”

*Solomon continues to build his campaign for Mayor.  He has earned the
first two ward committee endorsements: the 2nd highest voter turnout ward
of Ward 5 and the Ward 10 committee.  He recently announced that he ended
the first fundraising quarter with more than $600,000 on hand - nearly 3
times more than his nearest competitor. That follows the endorsements of a
