HIDTA Task Force Arrest A North Providence Man On Drug Distribution Charges And Seize More Than 200 Grams Of Crack/cocaine
Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety, announces the arrest of a North Providence man on drug distribution charges by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force.
On April 16, 2014, at approximately 8:00 a.m., members of the HIDTA Task Force executed a court authorized search warrant at Winona Street, Building #25, Apt #9, North Providence, RI that resulted in the seizure of two hundred and eight (208) grams of crack/cocaine and $12,490 in United States currency.
Kevin Hernandez, age 23, of 9 Winona Street, Building #25, Apt #9, North Providence, RI is alleged to have been in possession of two hundred and eight (208) grams of crack/cocaine. He was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Crack/Cocaine with Intent to Deliver,
- Possession of Crack/Cocaine 1 Ounce to 1 Kilo
Mr. Hernandez was processed at the Lincoln Barracks and arraigned in Third Division District Court. The Honorable Associate Judge William C. Clifton ordered Mr. Hernandez held without bail on the above charges at the Adult Correctional Institute pending an April 29, 2014 bail hearing.
The HIDTA Task Force is managed by the Rhode Island State Police and comprised of members from Providence Police, Pawtucket Police, Johnston Police, Central Falls Police, North Providence Police, West Warwick Police, United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the United States Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations.
