The acting president of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov, said Wednesday that the main representatives of the Russian government do not want to establish any contact with the authorities in their country.
In an interview published by the news agency AFP, Turchynov noted that Ukraine will take no military action in Crimea because «it would give Russia a reason to intervene in the entire country.»
Interim Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk will meet Wednesday in Washington with U.S. President Barack Obama.
The U.S. government said that if the referendum planned for this Sunday continues, that difficult diplomatic negotiations and new sanctions will be imposed.
