2 Kids struck by car in Providence
Pedestrians struck on Potters Avenue and Dexter Street
Providence, RI- This morning at approximately 7:52 hours Providence Police responded
to the area of Potters Avenue and Dexter Street for a report of three pedestrians
struck. Upon arrival police discovered that a woman was pushing a stroller, with
two children inside, crossing Potters Avenue in a southerly direction when the
stroller was struck by a vehicle traveling easterly on Potters Avenue. The force
from the impact caused the woman to be knocked to the ground. A 2-year-old male was
ejected from the stroller and a 3-year-old female remained inside the stroller after
it was struck. Both children were transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital for
serious injuries. The adult was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for minor
injuries.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as a 40-year-old Providence resident.
This accident is under investigation by the Providence Police Traffic Bureau
Accident Reconstruction Unit.
