Sandra Cano fights to grow Pawtucket’s Economy

Pawtucket – City Councilor At-Large Sandra Cano hailed the recent approval of a $13 million federal grant for Pawtucket
to build a commuter rail stop as the most recent sign of the economic progress Pawtucket is making.
“One of my primary reasons for running for City Council two years ago was to be a strong voice for economic
development,” said Cano.
“I support a new Pawtucket train station because it will bring new commuters and new customers to
Pawtucket’s small business community as well transform mills into new residential uses,” Cano continued.
“The Pawtucket economy has great momentum right now. In the last 2 years, we approved
the first ever Director of economic development, the successful recruitment of Isle Brewers Guild and
Narragansett Beer, and better branding and marketing for our great city.”
“This is why I am running for re-election,” said Cano. “We have so much more to do!”
Cano proposed a new façade improvement revolving loan fund for small businesses during this year’s
budget and, after her advocacy, the City Council overwhelmingly passed the initiative.
“Our small businesses are vital to our success as a community,” said Cano, who works for Navigant Credit
Union as Assistant Vice President of Business and Community Development.
“As a city, it is important we do everything we can to help them build on their successes.
“I have loved serving the residents of Pawtucket on the City Council over the last two years, and
respectfully ask for your vote on September 13th so I can continue to contribute to Pawtucket’s economic
comeback,” concluded Cano.
