Treasurer Magaziner: Rhode Islanders are ready to Fix Our School Now
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Rhode Island General Treasurer said the following in response to a poll, conducted by the Hassenfeld Institute for Public Leadership at Bryant University, which showed super-majority support for the $250 million statewide school repair bond proposed this year:
«Rhode Islanders are clearly ready to make a once-in-a-generation investment in repairing our schools and building modern facilities that can equip students with the skills and experience to succeed,» said Treasurer Magaziner. «The longer we wait the more expensive and difficult it will be to overcome this challenge. It’s time to fix our schools now.»
Treasurer Magaziner, who oversees all bond sales for the state, was co-chair of the Rhode Island School Buildings Task Force which, in addition to other steps, recommended the $250 million bond referendum be placed on the ballot for voters to consider this year.»
