WASHINGTON, — Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) released the following statement regarding today’s reports of a shooting at a Congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia: “I am shocked and saddened by the news of this horrible and senseless shooting at a Congressional baseball practice in Virginia this morning. My thoughts and prayers go out to House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and the others injured during this heinous act. I salute the first responders for their rapid response and the brave Capitol Police officers who put their lives on the line to protect Congress each and every day.

Shooting At A Naval Base Leaves Two Dead

A shooting at the world's largest naval base in Norfolk, Virginia, left two people dead. A spokesman for the naval base reported that a sailor, aboard the destroyer USS Mahan, had died by gunfire, until the guards killed a civilian suspect. The base was closed for a short period of time after the incident, which occurred on Monday night. It is not yet clear whether the civilian was allowed to be on board of the ship.
