Beach pavilion inaugurated in Westerly

WESTERLY, (AP) — A Rhode Island beach pavilion renovated after the destruction of Superstorm Sandy in October 2012 was dedicated this week. The Frank “Shorty” Comforti Pavilion at the Town Beach in Westerly has been open about six weeks, but the official ribbon-cutting attended by Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse was held Monday. “This is really incredible,” said Jeff Behrendt, of Poughkeepsie, New York. Nuala Pell Passes Away

Nuala Pell, widow of the late Senator Caiborne Pell and grandmother to gubernatorial candidate, Clay Pell passed away on the morning of April 13, 2014 at Newport Hospital. She was 89 years old. Funeral arrangements are under way and the service will be held next week on April 21 in Newport at Trinity Episcopal Church at 11am.
