 Suspect arrested of CVS and Cumberland Farms Robberies

On March 27, 2019, at approximately 11:30 PM, the Cumberland Farms located at 193 Division St., Pawtucket, RI, was robbed by a lone male who stated that he had a gun however no weapon was displayed.  The male fled the store after getting an undisclosed amount of money and was seen fleeing west on Division St.  The male suspect was wearing a grey colored hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up and tied tightly covering his face and was reported to be barefoot.

A few hours later, the CVS located at 835 Newport Ave was robbed for the second time in as many nights.  The male suspect threatened the clerk by stating he had a knife and received an undisclosed amount of money.  The suspect also stole a cell phone from a customer prior to fleeing the store. The suspect was described as dark skinned male with a tattoo on the right side of his face who was wearing a black sweatshirt with grey sleeves. 

A suspect matching this description was located walking on Walcott St. and was stopped for further investigation.  The male suspect was wearing the same clothing and had a tattoo on his face as described in the CVS robbery.  The male, identified as Troy Fortes (31) of 96 Courtney Ave, Pawtucket, RI, was taken into custody.

Detectives interviewed Mr. Fortes who gave a confession to the CVS and Cumberland Farm robberies.  Mr. Fortes will be charged with several counts of First Degree Robbery and will be arraigned this morning (9:00 AM) at Providence District Court.
