Statement from Public Safety Director, Chief Tina Goncalves and Fire Chief Bill Sisson
Our brave men and women of the Fire Department are currently fighting the ongoing fire at 280 Rand Street. A box alarm call came in at 3:07 am, and there was an active fire upon arrival of the first responders. The fire has since spread to multiple buildings. A perimeter has been established. It continues to be extended as the fire spreads. Dexter Street and Barton Street on to Weeden Street have been shut down and evacuated. No one has been injured at this time. We thank the surrounding communities that are assisting our Public Safety Department through mutual aid. Please be assured that our hardworking men and women will continue to fight the fire in order to keep our residents safe.
