The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts is presenting a series of grant workshops throughout the state for individual artists, non-profit organizations and schools interested in submitting grant applications for the Council’s April 2, 2018 application deadline. These workshops are free and open to the public.

Grant workshops will be held in four locations throughout the state:

• Monday, February 19th from 4:30 to 6pm at the Southside Cultural Center in Providence

• Wednesday, February 28th from 4:30 to 6pm at the Stadium Theatre in Woonsocket

• Wednesday, March 7th from 5 to 6:30pm at the Common Fence Point Center for the Arts in Portsmouth

• Thursday, March 15th from 4:30 to 6pm at the Artist Cooperative Gallery in Westerly.

Arts Council staff from each program area will provide an overview of the grant guidelines as well as grant writing best practices and advice. Following the presentation, staff will meet and talk with each attendee about the specific grant programs they are interested in and their applications.

According to RISCA’s executive director, Randall Rosenbaum, “Whether this is your first grant application or your hundredth, it’s always a good idea to get a refresher on what makes an application stand out. These workshops are also a great way to meet other local artists and RISCA staff.”

This current grant cycle offers opportunities for individual artists, arts organizations and educational and non-profit organizations for Project Grants, which support specific arts projects and arts in education projects. April is also the deadline for Artist Fellowship applications for individuals working in the disciplines of crafts, film & video, folk arts, fiction, poetry, playwriting/screenwriting, photography and three-dimensional art.

Those interested in attending can reserve a space at http://www.arts.ri.gov/workshops

All workshop locations are accessible to people with disabilities, but if any special accommodations are required people are encouraged to contact the Arts Council via phone, via RI Relay at 711, or via email at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting.
