Sochi 2014 Torch Relay nears conclusion

On Monday, the flame toured Maykop – approximately 260km from Sochi – with Torchbearers including Olympic weightlifting champion Mukharby Kirzhinov, Olympic handball silver medallist Anna Kareyeva and Paralympic shooting medallist Valery Ponomarenko.

Krasnodar, meanwhile, saw a record number of Torchbearers in a single day, with 345 people enjoying the opportunity to carry the Olympic flame along a 63km route around the city.

Among the Torchbearers were Olympic handball champion Eduard Koksharov, artistic director of the Bolshoi Theatre ballet group Sergei Filin and Viktor Zakharchenko, the artistic director of the Kuban Cossack Choir.
