Rhode Island’s William Mekrut Named National AAA Board Chair
William A. (Bill) Mekrut of Lincoln, RI was elected chair of the national AAA Board of Directors during the federation’s 116th annual meeting May 7 in Chandler, Arizona.
Mr. Mekrut, also a board member of AAA Northeast, recently retired as vice president and treasurer of FM Global, where he had worked since 1990. He joined the board of AAA Northeast in 2008, and was elected to the national board in 2015, also serving as vice chair.
Mr. Mekrut serves as a member of the Providence College President’s Council and as an advisory board member of the Providence College School of Business. He is a former chair of the board at Delta Dental.
“AAA is a brand that is trusted by millions of consumers, and we must deliver the ultimate experience to our members through not only superior roadside service, but through competitive benefits and value-added programs,” Mr. Mekrut said.
Mr. Mekrut, a certified public accountant, earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Providence College and a master’s degree from Bryant University. He and his wife Joan have two grown children and three grandchildren.
