RHODE ISLAND HANDS-FREE CELL PHONE LAW TAKES EFFECT JUNE 1
Providence, RI – On Wednesday, May 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the AAA Northeast Headquarters, 110 Royal Little Drive, Providence, AAA Northeast will welcome Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) Director Peter Alviti, Jr., State Police Colonel Ann Assumpico, and Federal Highway Administration Rhode Island Division Administrator Carlos Machado at a press conference to explain Rhode Island’s new hand-free cell phone law, which goes into effect on June 1. Also present will be Senator V. Susan Sosnowski and Representative Kathleen A. Fogarty, who sponsored the legislation. Samples of hands-free devices Rhode Islanders may use to comply with the new law will be on display, and the pairing of a phone with an in-vehicle hands-free system will be demonstrated.
