Rep. William’s legislation to extend driving privilege licenses to undocumented immigrants to be heard in committee
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Anastasia P. Williams’ legislation (2016-H

that allows the RI Department of Motor Vehicles to issue driving privilege licenses
and driving privilege permits to applicants unable to establish lawful presence in
the United States will be heard by the House Committee on Judiciary on Tuesday,
March 15 at the RISE of the House in Room 101 of the State House.
Representative Williams (D-Dist. 9, Providence) recently held a press conference
regarding the legislation on Wednesday, March 9 in the State Room of the State
House. In attendance were cosponsors of the legislation Rep. Shelby Maldonado
(D-Dist. 56, Central Falls), Rep. Aaron Regunberg (D-Dist. 4, Providence), sponsor

Frank A. Ciccone III (D-Dist. 7, Providence, North Providence), cosponsor Sen. Juan
M. Pichardo (D-Dist. 2, Providence), Sen. Harold M. Metts (D-Dist. 6, Providence),
Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza, members of the Providence Catholic Diocese, several
other religious leaders of the state, and multiple supporters of the legislation.
Public testimony will be taken on the legislation at the hearing.
