WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Jack Reed today issued the following statement
regarding the terrorist attacks in Brussels, Belgium:
"Our hearts go out to the victims and we stand in solidarity with the people of
Belgium. We will do everything we can to root out the network that conducted this
attack and degrade and destroy it. We must also continue putting pressure on ISIL
wherever they operate to ensure they can't inspire these types of attacks anywhere.
Terrorists want to fuel fear, bigotry, and hatred. But we are united, resilient,
and determined to defend our values. These sorts of cowardly acts will only
strengthen our resolve and engender more international cooperation, coordination,
and intelligence gathering to prevent and thwart future attacks. This is also a
time when we need increased vigilance to prevent terrorists from exploiting
humanitarian crises and an increased commitment to doing what is right, even when it
is difficult."
