Reed to Help Unveil New E-Pumper Fire Truck in Central Falls
On Monday, January 29, at 10:00 AM, U.S. Senator Jack Reed will join Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Congressman David Cicilline, Central Falls Mayor James Diossa, Central Falls Fire Chief Robert Bradley, and others at the Central Falls Fire Department for the unveiling of a new 2017 E-One Pumper Truck. Nicknamed "the Typhoon," the truck has a 1500 gallon per minute pump and can carry 780 gallons of water. The truck was awarded to the Central Falls Fire Department through an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) of $500,000. The competitive grant was awarded after a letter of recommendation was sent by Senator Reed, who over the course of his career has been a strong supporter of Rhode Island firefighters and first responders and who, as a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, has secured millions for the grants in Appropriations laws. In an effort to ensure Rhode Island's firefighters have the proper equipment and training, Senator Reed also leads an annual fire grant workshop to help them successfully compete for federal funding.
