Raimondo to Testify at Senate Finance Hearing in Support of Rhode Island Promise Scholarship Initiative

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Governor Gina M. Raimondo will make a rare appearance before the Senate Finance Committee tomorrow to testify in support of the Rhode Island Promise Scholarship proposal. The proposal will ensure that every Rhode Island student has an opportunity to attend college and get the job training and education they need to compete for jobs Rhode Island companies are creating.

By 2020, seven out of 10 jobs in Rhode Island will require a degree or credential beyond high school, but only four out of 10 Rhode Islanders have that degree or credential.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at the rise of the Senate in the Senate Lounge. Governor Raimondo will hold a media availability to discuss the Rhode Island Promise scholarship program after her testimony. More information about the proposal is available at www.RIpromise.com.
