Raimondo Highlights Computer Science Program

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Governor Gina M. Raimondo, joined by Chief Innovation Officer Richard Culatta and local education leaders, today visited the Bootstrap Summer Camp at the Academy for Career Exploration (ACE) in Providence. According to the state Department of Labor and Training, by 2022, there will be more than 4,000 openings in computer and math jobs in Rhode Island. Raimondo spoke with students about how skills like coding will help them in the future.

«In the next six years, Rhode Island businesses will create thousands of computer and math jobs,» Raimondo said. «Programs like ACE’s Bootstrap Summer Camp teach our kids important computer science skills that will allow them to design their own futures. CS4RI will help equip every Rhode Island student with the skills they need to compete for tomorrow’s jobs.»
