Raimondo Directs U.S. and Rhode Island Flags Lowered
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In accordance with a Presidential Proclamation, Governor Gina M. Raimondo has ordered U.S. and Rhode Island flags to be flown at half-staff at all state facilities and buildings. The flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on the day of interment of former U.S. Senator and astronaut John Glenn.
«John Glenn will be remembered as a national hero and true public servant,» Raimondo said. «His life and career taught a nation that even the impossible is attainable when we work together. His contributions have solidified America’s place as a leader in science and technology, as well as inspired millions. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Annie and the entire Glenn family at this time.»
Raimondo also asks Rhode Islanders to lower their flags as a mark of respect.
