Promotion Ceremony for Fire Department Held at City Hall
PAWTUCKET – At a ceremony held today at City Hall, a member of the Pawtucket Fire Department was sworn in to his new role and five new officers were officially sworn as members of the department by Public Safety Director Antonio J. Pires and Chief William Sisson.
The ceremony began with Public Safety Director Pires promoting Private Joseph Warzycha to the rank of Fire Lieutenant. His Lieutenant badge was pinned on him by Kara Montalbano.
Warzycha is a 13 year veteran of the department. Lieutenant Warzycha has also received training as a rope rescue technician, swift-water rescue responder, and a basic wild/land search and rescue certification.
Director Pires swore in recruits Erik Smith, Bradley Hazelton, Christopher Kolb, Kyle Joyce, and Michael Kilmartin to the Pawtucket Fire Department.
The firefighters were also offered well wishes by Congressman David Cicilline, State Representative Raymond Johnston, and Father David Thurber of St. Teresa’s Church.
After the ceremony, family, friends and co-workers gathered to offer their congratulations to the five newly-sworn in officers.
