Pedestrian fatally struck by Peter Pan bus in Kennedy Plaza

Providence, RI- Today, at approximately 8:15 a.m. a pedestrian identified as
Michelle Cagnon, age 30 of Cumberland, was walking easterly on Washington Street in
Kennedy Plaza. As she was crossing the roadway of East Approach, within the
crosswalk, she was struck by a Peter Pan bus. The bus was traveling easterly and
turning northerly onto East Approach. A Providence Park Ranger working in the area
witnessed the entire incident and immediately summoned Providence Police and Fire to
the scene. Cagnon died as a result of her injuries and was pronounced at the scene.

The operator of the bus is identified as Matthew J. Reidy of Taunton, Massachusetts.

This is an open case and remains under investigation.
