PROVIDENCE - Providence City Council President and Democratic Mayoral
candidate Michael Solomon announced today the hiring of Liz White as
campaign manager for his mayoral campaign.

"I am thrilled to have a campaign manager with an accomplished policy and
communications background," said Solomon. "Liz is a great team builder and
she is passionate about the issues facing our city: education, community
development, health care and rebuilding the city's middle class. I worked
closely with her on passing historic reforms that took on Big Tobacco and
protected the health of Providence's youth and was impressed with her
management of such an important campaign."

For the last year, White has served as Deputy Director of Communications
for Providence Mayor Angel Taveras where she co-managed City Hall media
relations and served as mayoral spokeswoman.

"I am proud to have worked as a member of Mayor Taveras' team and of the
work we have accomplished in Providence," said Liz White. "I am excited to
join Michael Solomon's campaign and to continue the work to move Providence
forward."

Prior to coming to City Hall, White served as Manager and then Director of
Public Affairs at Advocacy Solutions LLC since 2006 where she led public
affairs and strategic communications efforts for clients in the health
care, education and social services sectors - including the development of
Tobacco-Free Providence, a multi-year campaign in partnership with the City
of Providence and the Center of Disease Control that successfully took on
big tobacco and recently won in the First Circuit Court of Appeals.

White graduated from Providence College in 2006 with a dual degree in
Health Policy and Spanish.

She plans on transitioning out of City Hall and starting with the campaign
on March 17, 2014.
