Lieutenant police files sexual harassment claim

Rhode Island – The highest-ranking woman in the history of the Cranston Police Department has filed a lawsuit accusing the city and its colleagues of sexual harassment and gender discrimination. Lt. Karen Guilbeault argues that gender played a role in the delay of her promotion to lieutenant, to being denied sufficient staff to drive traffic directing and being denied training. Guilbeult also alleges she was the victim of harassment via text messages. Defendants have filed a response to the Supreme Court, where they deny the allegations. These include, the city police chief, and 5 current and former colleagues of Guilbeault.
