Governor Raimondo issued executive order to transform Medicaid

Rhode Island – Governor Gina Raimondo on Thursday issued an executive order to establish a «Working Group for Reinventing Medicaid .» This was announced at a press conference . Raimondo said spending on Medicaid accounts for one third of the state budget , and added that the cost per person is among the highest in the country . Under the executive order , the group will be composed of representatives of the sector of health care , economics and business and solicit opinions from a variety of groups, organizations and individuals to then make their recommendations to «transform Medicaid .» The group started working immediately with the aim of presenting its report in late April and thus be considered for the budget of 2016.
