George Clooney & Amal Alamuddin Get Their Marriage License In London
We hear wedding bells for George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin! The engaged pair successfully secured their marriage license in London, and are well on their way to the altar! Read on for more details.
The notorious bachelor is ready to settle down! George Clooney, 53, and the stunning, Amal Alamuddin, 36, have been engaged since April 2014, and are gearing up to walk down the aisle. Securing their marriage license on Aug. 6, the couple’s one step closer to saying, “I do.”
George shocked the world when he became engaged to Oxford educated lawyer, Amal. As previously reported, the silver fox has been very vocal about his disinterest in getting married again.
“I was married in 1989. I wasn’t very good at it. I was quoted as saying I’ll never get married again pretty much right after I got divorced and then I’ve never talked about it since,” Clooney said in a 1995 interview with ABC’s Barbra Walters.
Amal won his heart though! The gorgeous pair have plenty in common, including being extremely active in supporting human rights.
People reported that the couple got their license in London, which is where Amal is based. A notice of the certificate was posted outside of Chelsea Old Town Hall, which is a legal requirement for all U.K. citizens, and listed that they would be wed in Italy!
The site reported that while George was absent — much to the disappointment of staffers at the town hall — Amal was required to be there since she is a British citizen.
It makes sense that the two would choose to get married in Italy. The Oscar-winning actor has a gorgeous property at Lake Como where they have spent plenty of time at.
We can’t wait for this ceremony, we are sure it will be stunning!
As if we needed another reason to be excited for this wedding, as previously reported, Brad Pitt will serve as George’s best man.
George’s Aunt Staria told the Daily Mail she thinks Brad will be the one standing next to her nephew at his long-awaited wedding. The actors have been friends for many years so it totally makes sense that he would be there for support George on his big day.
“I would say he’d choose Brad Pitt for his best man,” Staria said. “They are good friends, I would think that’s who he’d choose.”
