Foster democrats endorse Gina Raimondo for Governor
Foster — Yesterday, the Foster Democratic Town Committee voted overwhelmingly to
endorse Gina Raimondo in the Democratic primary for governor. Foster is the second
town committee to endorse Gina.
«We are proud to be endorsing Gina; now more than ever, Rhode Island needs a leader
with a sense of urgency to address our most pressing problems,» said Foster
Democratic Chairman John Bevilacqua. «With a lagging economy and infrastructure in
disrepair, it’s critically important that we elect a governor who is ready to set a
course to move this state forward and we will be working very hard to make sure she
is elected.»
«I’m honored to have earned the support of the Foster Democrats,» said Gina. «Our
state is facing some huge challenges; we have the highest unemployment in the
country and crumbling infrastructure. But we also have incredible resources:
top-notch research institutions, gorgeous coastlines, a long history of
manufacturing expertise and, most importantly, the strength and resiliency of Rhode
Islanders. There’s no reason why our economy should continue to struggle and my
first priority will be getting people back to work. Thanks to the Foster Democrats
for their support and I look forward to working with them.»
Gina has already been endorsed by the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 51, the
Ironworkers Local 37, EMILY’s List, Lt. Gov Elizabeth Roberts, Senator Donna
Nesselbush, Representative Grace Diaz, Representative Anastasia Williams, Providence
Councilman Luis Aponte, Providence Councilman Davian Sanchez, Providence
Councilwoman Sabina Matos, Smithfield Councilwoman Suzy Alba and the Scituate
Democratic Town Committee.
