Construction to Begin on Pawtucket’s Downtown Parking Garage
Sections of the garage will be closed to the public
PAWTUCKET – The Downtown Parking Garage (274 Main Street) will be undergoing a series of renovations beginning this August. The storefronts, which are vacant, will be demolished increasing visibility to the garage from the street level and enhancing safety and security, as well as adding needed parking spaces. The garage will also be painted and new LED light fixtures and emergency lights will be installed.
The first stage of these renovations will involve the removal of the vacant storefronts lining the parking garage. The 1st floor of the parking garage will be closed beginning Monday, August 6th, 2018. During the first stage of renovations, the 2nd and 3rd floors of the parking garage will remain fully open. Renovations to the 2nd floor will be underway sometime this fall. The City will continue to keep visitors and businesses up-to-date on the closures and renovation schedule.
The City extends its appreciation to the local businesses and residents for their cooperation and patience during this renovation project. If residents have any questions or concerns about the parking garage project, please contact the Department of Planning and Redevelopment at (401)-728-0500 ext. 430.
