Central Falls Police arrest habitual offender for shoplifting and obstruction
CENTRAL FALLS – Police responded to a report of shoplifting early Tuesday evening at the CVS Pharmacy located at 309 Broad Street in Central Falls.
The suspect was described as a thinly built Hispanic male wearing a green and black jacket, and blue jeans.
The suspect in question exiting the store as officers pulled into the parking lot. He subsequently took off running, merchandise in hand, when he seemingly spotted the officers.
The responding officers gave chance and he was apprehended without injury after a prolonged foot pursuit through residential and commercial properties and over several fences.
Most of the stolen merchandise was recovered and it was later learned that the suspect, later identified as Jose P. Dalomba (55) of Pawtucket, had sixty previous arrests in Rhode Island spanning several decades.
He was held overnight until his arraignment Wednesday on the charge of felony shoplifting; shoplifting – habitual offender; and obstructing an officer in the execution of their duty.
The presiding judge ordered him held at the ACI as both a District Court and Superior Court violator.
