CENTRAL FALLS, RI – On Wednesday, October 11th, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Mayor James A. Diossa and the City of Central Falls will be hosting the 3rd Annual Central Falls Job Fair at Knights of Columbus Hall in Central Falls.

The initiative, spearheaded by Councilwoman Carlene Fonseca three years ago, comes as a collaboration between the City, the RI Department of Labor and Training, and the Workforce Partnership of Greater RI. The primary goal is to connect Rhode Island businesses with the large, diverse pool of Central Falls and neighboring community job seekers who are actively seeking employment in all fields.

“The City and State are working closely to provide opportunities for those in Central Falls and our neighboring communities,” stated Mayor Diossa. “I am confident that our hardworking and dedicated workforce and the participating employers will take full advantage of the Job Fair as they have in previous years.”

The Job Fair has reached its capacity and will be featuring 45 organizations from across the state that are actively looking to hire individuals with a wide range of experience. Employers include Bank of America, Blackstone Valley Community Health Care, CVS, First Student, General Dynamics Electric Boat, Nursing Placement, and Roger Williams University’s School of Continuing Studies. Similar to each of the past two years, hundreds of people are expected to be in attendance.

“We are really exciting to be working with the Department of Labor and Training for the third year,” stated Councilwoman Carlene Fonseca. “This event will be the best one yet as we continue to provide wonderful opportunities to our residents. Having the job fair in Central Falls gives our residents a sense of empowerment. I’m honored to be able to offer this job fair to those in CF and the surrounding communities.”

There will be a complimentary resume review and job hunting career counseling services on October 10th, the day prior to the fair. City of Central Falls Planning and Economic Development Assistant Director Mark Allio has more than 30 years of experience in human resources, including recruiting, hiring, education and training, job-hunting. Mark will review résumés, discuss job-hunting strategies, etiquette, professional attire, and interviewing techniques, and offer tips on using web searches and social media. “Central Falls has plenty of able bodied and willing individuals looking to join the workforce or advance their careers,” stated Assistant Director Mark Allio. “The resume and interviewing review is a free service that will assist candidates in presenting the best version of themselves to potential employers.”
