Gordon Fox Fined $1500 by Ethics Commission

After failing to disclose the income he earned from legal work he performed for the Providence Economic Development Partnership (PEDP), House Speaker Gordon Fox on Tuesday agreed to pay a $1,500 fine. The Ethics Commission voted unanimously to approve a settlement with Fox. All state-appointed and elected officials are required to file annual financial disclosures that detail certain sources of income – including payments from any state or municipal agency. Fung Releases Documents Pertaining to Fatal Car Crash

Cranston Mayor Allan Fung, Republican candidate for Rhode Island governor, has released four pages of his 1995 application to practice law, where applicants are asked about their criminal history. Fung said he lost consciousness while driving and hit a man who was changing a tire on Interstate 95 in Cranston in 1989, when he was 18. He said drugs and alcohol weren’t involved and a grand jury declined to indict him. He had his arrest record sealed in the 1990s. Fung publicly revealed the accident two weeks ago.

Top Republicans to Present Idea on Immigration Reform

Top Republicans will call this week for a path to legal status, but not citizenship, for many of the 11 million adult immigrants who are in the country illegally. A path towards citizenship would be offered for immigrants brought to the United States illegally as young children.
