Rhode Island - Some Rhode Island students who have secured admission to 2 or 4 year universities or colleges need not be subjected to the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) to ensure they receive their high school diplomas . This was announced by a Rhode Island Education Department spokesperson, adding that it has provided information and guidance to school superintendents last January 3 who may now issue waivers for NECAP tests starting with students graduating this year.
Rhode Island - A Providence man is recovering after he was shot Saturday night. The 24 year old man sustained a leg injury when someone shot him on Pine Street in Providence shortly after 9. According to authorities, the man whose name has not yet been released and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, is not cooperating.
Rhode Island - Providence police are investigating a possible hit and run that ended with a car embedded in a building on the corner of Holden and Orms early Sunday. The police report indicates that the driver of one of the cars, alleged victim of the hit and run, was pursuing the other driver that fled in the vehicle, and finally lost control and crashed into the house. No injuries have been reported.

According to the firefighter headquarters, this firefghter sustained injuries to his neck and shoulder and was treated at the hospital. The property was unoccupied.
