Former Senator guilty of embezzlement

Rhode Island - A jury in the Superior Court of Kent County issued a guilty verdict in three of the five counts of embezzlement and one count of conspiracy against former state Sen. Timothy Patrick McDonald. McDonald was accused of embezzling more than $ 160,000 in real estate transactions. He faces up to 20 years in prison on each of the convictions for embezzlement. North Providence man accused of killing parents

Rhode Island - A grand jury indicted Mark Yu, 36, with two counts of murder and two for failing to report their deaths, for the murder of his parents in North Providence.  Authorities allege that the victims  Young Yu, 60, and  Yeon Yu, 61, died from blunt force trauma at the family residence in July 2013. Police said the bodies were found after two days, and that Mark found locked in a bathroom. Mark Yu was previously indicted in the District Court and is being held without bail. Police investigating fatal shooting in New Bedford

Massachusetts - Police responded early Thursday morning to a 911 call and arrived at the corner of Myrtle and Cedar Grove in New Bedford where they found an man injured by a gunshot wound and was taken to St. Luke's Hospital where he later died. Authorities identified the deceased as 23 Patrick Alves of New Redford and are treating the case as a homicide. Two dead in apparent murder-suicide in New Bedford

Mass. - Police are investigating after they found the bodies of Sharif Goode, 22, and Mabilia Maranhao, 22, in a Brock Avenue residence Wednesday afternoon.  Those close to the case say that the dead were a couple and lived in a place called Goode. According to the authorities it seems to be a murder-suicide, but evidence is still being processed. Meanwhile the State Medical Examiner Act conducts autopsies to determine the cause of the deaths.
