Arrivals Update – Volvo Ocean Race in Newport
Newport – Today’s the day!
After 17 long and tiring days sailing north from Itajaí, Brazil, the fleet is moving ever closer to Rhode Island – and the excitement is growing by the hour!
The American flags are out in force to welcome these boats to the only North American stopover of the 2014-15 edition – the race’s first ever visit to Newport!
Racing close all the way to the finish, the boats are still battling it out for first place, and the leaders are expected to arrive between 2000UTC and 0300UTC tonight! (That’s between 00-07 UTC time on 7 May)

Come down to the Race Village
The weather has warmed up, so come out and enjoy the arrivals in person, in front of the spectactular backdrop of Fort Adams!
There are water taxis running from downtown to the Race Village and back every 15 minutes all day, and the dock will be packed with adoring fans ready to welcome the boats!
