LPR’s Community Excellence Awards Gala is right around the corner.

On Saturday, May 23rd, 2015 Latino Public Radio will host their annual gala event.

For this year’s event we have chosen to focus on politics. Most everyone can agree that this was a huge year, especially with the recent elections which saw history made in the state of Rhode Island with the first female governor for the state, Gina Raimondo. At the same time we saw many Latinos take office this year, most notably in the city of Providence with Jorge Elorza being elected mayor and Nellie Gorbea winning the office of Secretary of State.

We would like to take this year to honor and recognize those who have made strides in the Latino community and left their mark in Rhode Island’s political landscape.

For LPR’s 6th Annual Community Excellence Awards Gala we will have performances by Jehu Ernesto Segura Aquino, Jose Otoniel Nicolas Concepcion and Victor Manuel Perez as our main entertainment for the evening.

Serving as Honorary Co-Chairs for the event we have:Governor Gina Raimondo, US Senator Jack Reed, Congressman David Cicilline, Congressman James Langevin, Mayor Allan Fung, Robert Healy

As part of our Honorary Committee we have: Lt. Governor Dan McKee, Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea, RI Treasurer Seth Magaziner, Mayor Jorge Elorza, Mayor Donald Grebian, Catherine Taylor, Daniel S. Harrop, M.D., Michael Solomon, Dawson Hodgson, Ernest Almonte, Brett Smiley, Ken Block, Clay Pell

We invite everyone to join us for what is bound to be a great event.
