ARREST A PROVIDENCE MAN ON DRUG DISTRIBUTION CHARGES
Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety, announces the arrest of a Providence man on drug distribution charges by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force.
On March 6, 2015 members of the HIDTA Task Force and the United States Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations conducted a joint investigation that led to the arrest of a Providence man and the seizure of approximately three (3) kilograms of heroin. This arrest originated as a result of an international parcel being intercepted and seized at the United States border. Nathaniel Reynoso, age 21, of 42 Calder Street, Providence, Rhode Island is alleged to have been in possession of three kilograms of heroin. Reynoso was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of Heroin 1-5 kilograms and distribution of a controlled substance within a school zone.
The Webster Elementary School was approximately five hundred (500) feet from the residence where Nathaniel Reynoso was staying, resulting in the school zone charge. Mr. Reynoso was arraigned at the Sixth Division District Court, Garrahy Judicial Complex, One Dorrance Plaza Providence, Rhode Island before The Honorable Steven M. Isherwood and ordered held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institute. A bail review is scheduled for March 17, 2015 in the Sixth Division District Court.
Any person who violates this section, Possession of 1- 5 kilograms of Heroin, shall be guilty of a crime, and upon conviction, may be imprisoned for a term up to fifty (50) years and fined not more than five hundred thousand dollars.
