Annual Meeting Street Telethon Presented by Cardi’s Furniture and Mattresses Raises more than $1.2 Million
Providence, RI – *January 30, 2018 *– Meeting Street is pleased to announce
that its 42nd annual telethon presented by Cardi’s Furniture and Mattresses
celebrated raising $1,233,541 during its broadcast on WPRI 12 and FOX
Providence on January 27th. The annual event, which is the organization’s
largest fundraiser of the year, attracted hundreds of guests to the two
broadcast locations, Meeting Street’s Providence, RI and Dartmouth, MA
campuses, and tens of thousands of television viewers. This year’s
fundraising total exceeds the previous record, set in 2017, by $100,541.
“Once again, we are truly amazed by the results of this year’s telethon and
are so thankful to have a wonderful community of supporters who believe in
our mission,” said John M. Kelly, President of Meeting Street. “These
funds allow Meeting Street to grow our services and bring our innovative,
inclusive style of education and early childhood services to even more
families in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.”
The four-hour show, hosted by WPRI 12 news anchors as well as Meeting
Street children, included an inside look at Meeting Street’s early
childhood and school programs, special segments featuring current and
former students, and live interviews with Meeting Street supporters, staff
and families.
