Mayor Elorza Announces Emily Crowell as Acting Chief of Staff

PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Jorge Elorza today announced that Director of Communications
Emily Crowell will transition to serve as Acting Chief of Staff starting January 15,
2018 during Chief of Staff Nicole Pollock’s maternity leave on an interim basis.
Crowell will retain her role as Communications Director during this time and return
to this role upon Pollock’s return.

«Both Nicole and Emily have shown dynamic leadership in their current roles,» said
Mayor Elorza. «We wish Nicole the best of luck during her leave and look forward to
continuing to our work to build strong, vibrant neighborhoods here in our Creative
Capital.»

Former staffer for Senator Jack Reed, Crowell joined the City in 2015, first serving
as Deputy Director of Communications and then Press Secretary. She graduated from
the University of Rhode Island and currently serves on the Board of Directors for
the Providence Downtown Improvement District and StyleWeek Northeast.
