Rhode Island – Former Central Falls Mayor Charles D. Moreau will appear at the District Court of the United States on Friday and leave there as a free man after his 2-year sentence in prison is halved. Despite his guilty plea on a charge of fraud to a federal program, this will be nullified, even so it will be on his criminal record. Moreau will have to spend three years under supervised release. Moreau reached an agreement to plead guilty to one count of corruptly soliciting information or accepting bribery by an authority of a city that receives federal funds. In exchange Moreau will receive credit for time served for the 13 months he was in prison.

Michael G. Bouthillete, Moreau ‘s friend and contractor who in exchange for gifts received lucrative contracts with the city of Central Falls also pleaded guilty to the charge of federal program fraud and was sentenced to 2,000 community service hours and 3 years supervised release.
