DMV starts mandatory reservation program Thursday For customers seeking license, registration reinstatements
CRANSTON, R.I. – The R.I. Division of Motor Vehicles begins a MANDATORY reservation program for service in its Adjudication Office beginning Thursday, Oct. 5 as the Division continues the operational improvements started earlier this year with the launch of a new computer system.
Customers seeking Adjudication Office service will now be required to first secure a reservation for most transactions by visiting www.dmv.ri.gov and accessing the Customer Reservations portal.
The Adjudication Office accounts for about 10 percent of customer volume at the DMV’s Cranston headquarters – about 1,000 people per month use this office.
Customers making a reservation should bring with them a copy of their reservation confirmation or reservation number available at check-in. They also will be required to have proof of identification.
• People can still walk-in for service, but they must wait behind customers with reservations.
• Some services, such as transactions for driving records, remain available on a walk-up basis.
• DMV management will assess the efficiency and reception of the reservation system during the remainder of the year with an eye toward expanding it to other services in 2018.
