Governor Raimondo and First Gentleman Andy Moffit host the Christmas tree lighting and holiday celebration at the State House on Thursday, December 1st.
The MC of the night was Kasim Yarn, the state’s director of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Yarn started by acknowledging distinguished guests, officers and members of the DAV and Auxiliary, and others who were present.
Mr. Yarn stated, “One of the strengths that come from being a small state is that we can more easily come together as a community. This Christmas and throughout entire holiday season, let us join together as Rhode Islanders from across the state to take a moment out of our busy lives to reflect and celebrate this season of giving. Let us all be thankful for each other and our community.”
The celebration kicks off the evening with the 88th Army band, then the Chorus of East Providence performs, following performance was the Martin Middle School Chorus.
At 6:15pm the Governor, First Gentleman with their son Tommy did the countdown for the tree lighting.
Then they turn to the Bell Area for the lighting of the Heroes Tree where the 88th Army band performed.
Around 6:30pm the Governor and the First Gentleman read the “Twas the Night before Christmas”, while the 88th Army Band played background music.
