Federal Delegation Celebrate with Veterans at Providence VA Medical Center
Providence – Today, Senator Reed, Senator Whitehouse, Congressman Cicilline and Congressman Langevin joined local WWII veterans and state leaders at a ceremony luncheon at the Providence VA Medical Center. The event program included a Posting of the Colors, opening and closing of a Missing Man Table, and a Retiring of the Colors by Hope High School JROTC.
In July, Senator Reed helped break ground on the construction of a new, 10,000-square-foot intensive care unit at the center that is expected to be complete by July 2017. As a member of the Appropriations subcommittee that oversees VA funding, Senator Reed helped include $163 billion for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in the fiscal year 2016 omnibus appropriations bill.
