Raimondo to Welcome New Employees of GE Digital

Roundtable discussion will highlight emphasis GE Digital is placing on hiring Rhode Islanders, and often overlooked or underrepresented candidates, for these high-wage jobs

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – On Tuesday, Governor Raimondo will welcome new employees of GE Digital in Providence. The Governor will be joined by GE Digital’s Chief Technology Officer of Digital Workplace Technology Jeff Monaco, Director of TechHire Rhode Island Damian Ewens, and Commerce Secretary Stefan Pryor for a roundtable discussion with some of the new employees. GE has made 12 new hires in Providence: nine are from Rhode Island, and the other three are relocating to Providence to accept this position – showing the important role GE Digital is playing in retaining and attracting top talent in the Ocean State.

TechHire is working closely with GE Digital and many other Rhode Island companies to help source overlooked or underrepresented candidates for these high-wage, family-supporting positions. The TechHire initiative is an essential component of the Governor’s job skills agenda to train Rhode Islanders with the tools they need to join the technology sector.

In June, GE announced the opening of a new information technology center in Providence. The office is responsible for developing new software applications and driving innovation in High Performance Computing. GE Digital is planning to bring hundreds of new high-paying jobs to Rhode Island over the next several years.
