Gov. Raimondo, Rhode Island Foundation, education officials to announce new program to close «achievement gap» for ESL students

Providence – Rhode Island Foundation will join state and local education officials to
announce a new program to close the «achievement gap» for students who are English
Learners. The program will send dozens of public school teachers back to college for
intensive English as a Second Language Instruction training. The 18-month program
will draw teachers from the five districts with the most ESL students – Cranston,
Central Falls, Pawtucket, Providence and Woonsocket.
