Providence – Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, announces that he will be joined by Governor Gina M. Raimondo, Mr. Kobi Dennis from Unified Solutions, and various other community and elected leaders as they kick-off the Rhode Island Midnight Basketball League season. Colonel O’Donnell stated, “We are proud once again to partner up with various community organizations in support of the Midnight Basketball League. As we assisted in its expansion, we are making every effort to bring a diversified law enforcement message to the community and there is no better way to connect than through sports. The Midnight Basketball League will have troopers at various locations interacting and utilizing these games as a recruiting tool as well as entering a team to compete.”

The Rhode Island Midnight Basketball League is a community based initiative, funded through donations and contributions from local businesses, organizations and community members. Teams representing six (6) Rhode Island cities (Providence, East Providence, Pawtucket, North Providence, Central Falls and North Kingstown) will participate with individual leagues in collaboration with this summer’s Midnight Basketball League. The league consists of 54 teams, 540 players and 75 volunteers state-wide. RIMBL players include RI State Police, Division I college players and “The W division” for women.
