Massachusetts Clean Energy Center-sponsored event will bring together experts in offshore wind, wave, and tidal energy
On May 23, at 10 a.m., the UMass Dartmouth Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is hosting the second Annual Marine Renewable Energy Conference entitled Pioneering Ocean Energy Innovation in New England: Wind and Water at 151 Martine Street in Fall River.
The event, co-sponsored by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, will gather experts in offshore wind, wave, and tidal energy from government, utility, and stakeholder engagement to discuss the state of play in the implementation of marine renewables and implications for the creation of a supply chain ecosystem to drive economic development on the SouthCoast. Register for the conference here.
The full-day conference will feature speakers:
· Philippe Frangules, Vice President Power, Gas, Coal and Renewables, IHS Markit
· Bruce Carlisle, Director Offshore Wind, MassCEC
· Steven DeWitt, Technical Manager, Department of Energy, Water Power Technology Office
There will also be panel discussions with industry insiders, government officials, and academic researchers. These experts will discuss the impact of marine renewables on the local economy, how government can spur innovation, current experiences and the economics of starting a renewable energy project, stakeholder engagement, and entrepreneurship and innovation in the supply chain. There will also be student research posters on display from UMass Dartmouth, University of Rhode Island, and others.
“We are at the cusp of a marine tech and energy boom here on the SouthCoast and by bringing together experts and practitioners in the field, we are leveraging the assets that will bring about real success in the Blue Economy,” said Phil Adams, Executive Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
For those who cannot attend the entire conference, a networking reception, sponsored by ANBARIC Development Partners, will begin at 4:45 p.m. Register for the networking reception here.
