CENTRAL FALLS – During a four day period between Thursday August 25th, 2016 and Sunday August 27th, 2016 members of the Central Falls Police Department arrested four individuals for impaired driving charges.

As a result of a partnership and grant funding from the Rhode Island Department of Transportation Office on Highway Safety, the Central Falls Police Department has been able to staff additional officers to crack down on impaired driving during the summer months. Those arrested between Thursday and Sunday evening includes:

• William Lavallee, 36, of Cumberland, was charged with DUI 1st offense and Refusal to Submit to a chemical test

• Denis Catu, 28, of Central Falls, was charged with DUI 1st offense, Refusal to Submit to a chemical test, and driving without/expired license

• Alfonso Rodriguez, 50, of Providence, was charged with DUI 3rd offense

• Jose Betancourt, 66, of Pawtucket was charged with DUI 1ST Offense

Drinking and driving is a dangerous, costly problem in the Unites States. According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), 10,839 people will die in drunk driving crashes – one every 50 minutes – this year. In addition, one person is injured from an alcohol-related crash every minute.
